Cold Brew Coffee Instructions

Yield: about 1 quart cold brew concentrate

What you'll need:

1 Bag of Catbird Coffee Roasters Cool Cat preground cold brew blend

6 cups (1.4L) filtered water

1 Coldbrew filter bag (we recommend a disposable paper filter bag, which will produce the best tasting results and can be composted).

Lidded container (1/2 gallon or larger)


Add the ground coffee to the filter bag and place it in the container but do not tie the bag closed yet. Slowly add two cups of water to the coffee in the bag, wetting all the grounds. Next, close the bag and add the remaining water to the container. Close the container and allow it to steep in the refrigerator for 12-24 hours (we prefer an 18 hour steep).

After steeping, lift the filter bag out of the container and allow the coffee in the bag to drain into the container (do not squeeze the liquid out of the bag, this leads to excessive bitterness and other unpleasant flavors).

The resulting cold brew concentrate should be diluted with an equal amount of water before serving. Cold brew concentrate will keep in the refrigerator for up to a week or about three days after diluting.
